While scrolling through my neighborhood Facebook page, I came across a post that made me cringe. A neighbor shared that they visited a local watering hole—one many would consider a dive bar—and ordered two appetizers, two espresso martinis, and a glass of wine. The total bill? $98.
Naturally, they asked the question we’ve all thought lately:
“Am I trippin?!?!”
The truth is, they weren’t trippin at all—this has become the new norm. Eating out is expensive, and even happy hour doesn’t always feel like a deal anymore. Many diners find themselves doing a double take when the check arrives.
But here’s the good news: with a little strategy and the right tools, you can stop trippin and start dippin—as in dipping into multiple dining rewards programs that help you save money and earn rewards every time you eat out.
Welcome to the art of stacking dining rewards, also known as triple (or quadruple) dipping.
What Is Triple Dipping Dining Rewards?
Triple dipping means stacking multiple rewards programs on a single restaurant purchase to maximize savings. Let me show you how this works using my neighbor’s $98 tab—rounded up to an even $100 for easy math.
First Dip: The Foodie Card (Instant Savings + Points)
The restaurant in question, The Brightwaters Inn, participates in The Foodie Card, a dining rewards program that also supports social impact initiatives.
Here’s how it works:
- Members receive 10% off their bill at participating restaurants
- Simply show your Foodie Card before asking for the check
- Your discount is applied instantly
💰 $100 bill → $90 after the Foodie Card discount
That’s your first dip.

Example from one of my bills earlier this year showing you the 10% discount that the Foodie Card provides.
Bonus Dip with Foodie Card
Foodie Card doesn’t stop there. After your meal:
- Upload a photo of your receipt in the app
- Earn 1 point for every dollar saved
- Redeem points later for gift cards
That’s two rewards from one program—a built-in double dip.
Second Dip: Local by Toast Rewards
If you’ve ever noticed the word Toast at the top of a receipt, you’ve seen this program in action.
Local by Toast allows diners to:
- Earn points at participating restaurants
- Typically earn points at a 1:1 rate
- Redeem rewards at roughly 10% value
Signup is easy—just use your phone number or credit card.

Example of the points and redemption for using Local by Toast
💳 After your Foodie Card discount:
- $90 spend = 90 Toast points
- Points value = $9
Running Total:
- $10 saved from Foodie Card
- $9 earned from Toast
👉 $19 in savings and rewards so far
That’s a triple dip, and we’re not done yet.
Third Dip: Pay the Smart Way with a Rewards Credit Card
You could stop here and pay with cash—but that would leave money on the table.
Using a rewards credit card adds another layer of savings.
I personally use the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which earns:
- 3x points on dining purchases
💳 On a $90 bill:
- 90 × 3 = 270 points
- At a 1:1 valuation, that’s $2.70
- Plus additional points on tax and tip
This becomes your fourth dip.
The Final Breakdown: Quadruple Dipping in Action
One transaction. Four rewards.
- $10 instant savings (Foodie Card)
- 10 Points in rewards (Foodie Card)
- $9 in Toast rewards
- ~$3 in credit card points
💰 Total value: ~$22 back on a $100 meal
That’s how you Eat, Save & Repeat.
